See How Hemma Reduced Her Monthly Energy Usage

Hemma and her partner Tim embarked on a comprehensive renovation project at Hillside Road, guided by advice from Futureproof received in 2021. The primary goal was to make their house more sustainable, and energy-efficient, and eventually transition it off-grid and away from fossil fuels. The project included the installation of an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) and involved extensive DIY efforts, including, underfloor heating and new windows.

  3. Design (optional): So you have a plan of what to do, what next? Using your assessment findings you can start to implement a step-by-step retrofit plan, tailor-made to fit your home’s unique character.
  4. Finding a contractor: The next step is to search for a qualified contractor capable of executing your retrofit plan/designs effectively and professionally.
  5. Install: At this pivotal stage, the construction of your retrofit project begins. This is a process you can manage yourself or employ a retrofit co-ordinator to manage it for you.
  6. Handover & Evaluation: With the work complete, it’s time to savour the rewards of your retrofit journey, revelling in the comfort it offers and reduced energy bills while knowing you’re contributing to a cleaner, greener world.
